Just when you thought Wynwood couldn’t get any cooler, a Peruvian restaurant opened its doors in this artsy neighborhood.
And not just any Peruvian food spot… GK Bistronomie is a hipster-chic restaurant with an eclectic vibe, delicious food and even more delicious drinks. Chef Rafael Perez brought this concept to life last October and
I had the pleasure of enjoying dinner and drinks here a few weeks ago.
My favorite part about GK was the kitchen bar. Deliciously crafted cocktails, like the Lima Redemption or the Linda Paloma (my favorite), had flavor-infused Pisco (Peruvian brandy) that provided a modern twist to traditional Pisco drinks. Our bartender Roger told us that some of the infusions are prepared two weeks in advance to allow the ingredients to mix and extract richer flavors.
Chef Perez did it right when creating the menu. The seafood dishes combine flavor and texture creating satisfying food porn in your mouth that will leave you craving more!
Going to dinner with a group of friends was the perfect excuse to indulge in a variety of Peruvian goodness. Since we couldn’t make up our minds about what we wanted, we ordered a bit of everything: the ceviches, tiraditos, and other appetizers like grilled octopus and parmesan tiradito that were fresh and full of flavor. If your friends are the sharing kind, I recommend you do the same and get a taste of as much as you can from the menu.
Some other must-try items are the pan seared scallops, tender and delicious; the Peruvian seafood ceviche and the main lobster carpaccio. But don’t worry if you’re not a seafood lover, there is a wide variety of dishes to choose from, including foie gras empanadas, skirt steak anticuchos or a 16 oz. fire roasted sirloin steak.
If you are looking for a new place to go this weekend, head to GK and let me know what you think!
The restaurant is located at NW 2nd Ave and 25th St. in front of the Warby Parker store in Wynwood.
